The Arenberg Mills in Rebecq (Belgium), a witness to the industrial past of Walloon Brabant

Moulins Rebecq

The Arenberg mills in Rebecq, Belgium, form a remarkable heritage site on the banks of the Senne River. The Grand Moulin d'Arenberg, built at the end of the 14th century, is now an important cultural and tourist attraction in the region. It still has impressive machinery powered by a 7.5-metre-diameter water wheel. The site also houses the Porphyry Museum, which showcases the history of the famous stone quarried in Quenast and the local quarrying industry, as well as temporary exhibitions and various cultural events.

The Petit Moulin d'Arenberg offers a real journey into medieval economic history. Completely restored, it allows visitors to discover traditional milling powered by the force of the nearby river. Next door, the Maison de la Bière, housed in a former stable, offers an educational and friendly insight into the local brewing heritage. This dual heritage makes the Arenberg mills a unique place, both a witness to the industrial past of Walloon Brabant and a living space for cultural and craft exchanges.
