The Venerable Brotherhood of the "Santísimo Cristo de la Humildad y Paciencia y María Santísima de Dolores y Esperanza", originating in the 17th century, was born in 1634 as a subsidiary of the Brotherhood of the "Limpia y Pura Concepción" in the Convent of San Luis el Real, and it made processions on Holy Wednesday until its dissolution in 1835 and the consequent loss of its image in 1931. After a rebirth in 1987 promoted by a group of young brothers - among them Juan Manuel Sánchez Quiñones - the brotherhood was consolidated in 1999 in the Parish of San Vicente de Paúl, in the neighbourhood of Cruz de Humilladero, incorporating the invocation of the Sorrowful Virgin and celebrating its first Marian procession. In 2007 the image of the seated Christ was blessed, the work of Manuel Ramos Corona, and in 2022 the brotherhood unveiled a new Christ by José María Ruiz Montes - the latter on a neo-baroque throne of great ornamental richness - which enhances the brotherhood's carefully preserved heritage and aesthetics. Today it is a popular brotherhood, made up of around 1,500 brothers and some 155 nazarenes, which is the protagonist of the Palm Sunday Penitence Station, being an example of youth participation, community work and strong links with the neighbourhood.
